AFA 416, Teacher of the Year, 2013 Mrs. Christine Che’ Corbin
Christine Che’ Corbin
Mrs. Christine Che’ Corbin is an exceptional and dedicated science teacher who became involved in the Celeste ISD school district in 2012. She immediately became hands on with her students and filled in where she was needed. She is highly worthy of recognition for both her efforts in teaching science, technology, and mathematics as well as for her willingness to help.
Che’ graduated from North Central Texas College in 2009 with an Associate of Science in Farm and Ranch Management & Associate of General Arts with Agriculture. In 2012, she graduated from Texas Woman’s University with a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Education. She has teaching certifications in Early Childhood through eighth grade generalist and a supplemental ESL.
Che’ student taught at Denton Independent School District from January 2012 thru May of 2012. She planned and presented both whole group and individual instructions for various schools within their district, including bilingual classrooms. She has worked with the Celeste Independent School District since August of 2012.
Che’ has spent hours looking for new strategies to present science information to her students. She is both well-disciplined and caring in the classroom. She always has the best interest of her students at heart, she communicates well with parents, and is often a sounding board advising students. Her students respect and love her.
Che’ has such a tremendous attitude towards teaching and her students. She is always looking for new ways to encourage and motivate even the most reluctant learner. She took on the Celeste Robotics team with grace and style. She led a group of Jr. High students, as well as a few high school students, to compete with much larger schools. Her team came away with the “Best T-Shirt Design” award as well as excitement about robotics.
Not only does Che’ promote science, she also steps in and tutors math. She is constantly encouraging and assisting students and teachers. She also directed the UIL One Act Play and led her Jr. High students into a second place victory. She is currently directing the high school UIL One Act Play.
Che’ also believes in a “hands on” classroom. She has challenged her scientist to participate in real life labs that the students have worked on inside and outside of the classroom. She always relates her lessons to life experiences so that her students see first-hand the importance of science, not only in the classroom, but outside of the classroom as well. She is a wonderful promoter of STEM learning.
Che’ may be a first year teacher, but when you enter her classroom, you would never know that this is her first year. She has knowledge beyond her years. Che’ has the respect of her students, as well as her co-workers. There is no doubt that Mrs. Che’ Corbin is extremely deserving of Teacher of the Year.
